Open SUNY Online Teaching Ambassador 2019: Alfred State – Joe Bailey

After completing a very successful twenty-eight year military career, Mr. Bailey transitioned into academics.  He found this transition very easy mainly due to a passion for improving the lives of younger people.  In his own words, Mr. Bailey explained,

“I believe that our future is in their hands and that each of us must do what we can to set them up for success.  My online teaching philosophy is no different from my traditional classroom philosophy; student engagement is paramount. How we engage them is different, but we must engage with them.  I would even argue that student engagement with online teaching is more important than traditional classrooms.”
