My experience as an intern at SLN this semester has been incredibly rewarding. I feel honored to have been able to work with such great minds as Dan Feinberg, Alexandra Pickett and Rob Piorkowski. Each of them taught me invaluable lessons regarding online teaching and learning.
There is such a wide variety of services that SLN provides to campuses and it was amazing to see what goes into making it all happen.
I highly recommend this internship for anyone interested in online teaching and learning and more specifically instructional design. I got true insight into the needs and wants of the instructional designers that SLN supports and feel that these experiences would prepare me greatly for a future in the field.
What I was most surprised about was that beyond the enormous amount of services SLN provides to a large number of campuses is a passion and drive to keep learning more and continue to share knowledge. SLN is truly committed to improving the world of online education and the staff spend a lot of time discussing and brainstorming ways to make things better.
I am sad that my experience has come to an end, but grateful that I had it. Not only did I learn a great deal of information, I met some amazing people along the way who I know I will keep in touch with.
