Open SUNY COTE PD Associate: Sumana

Sumana Silverheels is the Technology Accommodations Coordinator in Disability Services at Buffalo State. She has a Bachelor’s in Physics and in Industrial Electronics and a Master’s degree in Social Sciences Interdisciplinary, with a focus on disability and Assistive Technology.  She provides services to students with disabilities with emphasis on AT for independence in learning. Ms. Silverheels works closely with instructional designers at Buffalo State and is active in promoting accessible instruction and making course content accessible. She has extensive experience with implementing AT for education and work. Ms. Silverheels is the chair for the Access Technology Committee for NYS Disability Services Council. She was recently appointed to the State Rehabilitation (SRC) Council NYS Commission for the Blind (NYSCB) AT committee. Prior to joining Buffalo State, she was the Assistive Technology Training Director for the Center for Assistive Technology, University at Buffalo, and managed a variety of projects in that capacity.
