SUNY Polytechnic Institute
Cynthia Grabski, DNS, FNP is an Assistant Professor and Program Coordinator in the School of Nursing MS/CAS FNP program. She obtained her Doctorate of Nursing Science from Russell Sage College in Troy, NY. Dr. Grabski’s dissertation focused on the translation of concussion protocols among primary care providers in the college health setting. With over 37 years of clinical expertise ranging from inpatient medical surgical/ oncology, home infusion, public health and primary care in college health she is never at a loss for content and experiences to integrate into her lessons.
Dr. Grabski has been an Assistant Professor at SUNY Polytechnic since 2018. In 2020, she began teaching online as a result of the COVID Pandemic and has not looked back. The ability to bring students together from across the region online allows students to spend extra hours in clinical settings instead of commuting to campus. Additionally, online formats have allowed the seamless integration of SUNY COIL program into FNP courses, bringing a worldwide experience to many.
Using the flipped classroom method with prerecorded lectures and technologies like Voice Thread, Panopto and Zoom have provided for effective use of meeting time with students. Experiential and applied learning with interactive case studies and other simulation experiences can allow safe spaces for students to practice the material with different groups of classmates and receive real-time feedback from faculty and peers.
