SUNY Online Teaching Ambassador 2025: Buffalo State – Jessica Fitzpatrick

Dr. Jessica Fitzpatrick, LMSW, Esq.  is a Chair and Associate Professor in the Department of Social Work at Buffalo State University. Dr. Fitzpatrick earned her Ph.D. in Sociology from SUNY Buffalo in 2015. She also holds a JD from SUNY Buffalo, a MSW from Arizona State University, and a BA from the SUNY College at Buffalo. Her research interests include teen interpersonal violence and traditional and holistic interventions.

Dr. Fitzpatrick is passionate about ensuring education is accessible. As such, she was one of two faculty that piloted HyFlex teaching at her campus. She has also developed and taught several online courses, both synchronous and asynchronous. She believes that online learning can be as high quality and engaging as in-person classes and looks forward to continuing to expand online offerings within her department.
