01:01:47 alexandra pickett: Hi everyone!
01:07:04 Joe Scampoli: We don’t have Blackboard messaging enabled.
01:07:47 Geralynn Demarest: Does the “Ask a question” go to email or do we need to go to that area to see that thread?
01:08:37 alexandra pickett: Joe – i saw in the CGCC template something that said email your professor… if the Bb email is not enabled can you check to make sure that link is going to the right thing?
01:09:19 alexandra pickett: “ask a question” is set up typically as a “discussion forum”
01:09:49 Joe Scampoli: Alex – We do have Bb email enabled, but not Bb messaging.
01:09:58 alexandra pickett: it is intended to help faculty keep questions out of email and in the course in a public area so all students can see the questions
01:10:08 alexandra pickett: oh… ok. joe. great.
01:11:16 alexandra pickett: i would recommend that faculty keep private interactions with students within the course shell in BB. so that they stay associated with the course that the student is in – especially important is the instructor teaches multiple courses.
01:13:26 alexandra pickett: sorry… dropped out for a sec. internet is acting up 🙂
01:16:22 Gregg Berninger: I replied…
01:16:43 Joe Scampoli: Many times students think that if they send an email from within Blackboard, that they should look for the reply in Blackboard.
01:24:03 Joe Scampoli: You can also provide video feedback in this grading screen.
01:43:15 alexandra pickett: Here are some resources/tips/suggestions related to teaching and managing your online course – for you to explore later 🙂 https://onlineteaching.open.suny.edu/page/onlineteachingtips
01:46:41 alexandra pickett: if you haven’t seen these yet – i want to be sure you have seen some discipline specific resources that you may want to check out: https://onlineteaching.open.suny.edu/page/discipline
01:49:42 Erica Nance: I’m looking at https://onlineteaching.open.suny.edu/page/discipline
01:49:52 Erica Nance: and we need a login to view
01:49:53 Geralynn Demarest: Where did you say the recordings are? Joe is it in our BUG course?
01:51:23 alexandra pickett: Which link requires login Erica?
01:52:01 alexandra pickett: online courses for observation require a login
01:52:34 alexandra pickett: i think if you cancel it should take you to the page…
01:53:09 Joe Scampoli: Geralynn – Which recordings are you referring to?
01:53:12 alexandra pickett: please contact the SUNY Online Help Desk. http://online.suny.edu/help and be sure to let the HD analyst know that you seek access to the SUNY Online Courses for Observation.

01:53:53 Geralynn Demarest: This session and the other CGCC with Rob so far
01:53:54 alexandra pickett: even if you get to that page, you will need to authenticate into our system to fully see everything in each course
01:54:38 alexandra pickett: you can see the recordings of these focused topic drop-in sessions here: https://online.suny.edu/onlineteaching/dropin-topics/
01:55:56 alexandra pickett: erica – if you want to see all the courses fully that we have for observation in lots of different disciplines, contact the HD and let them know you seek access to the “courses for observation” so they know what you are looking for 🙂
