00:58:12        JONESRO:    We have yet another Rob on the Help Desk too 🙂

01:07:58        Bill DeLuca:  All good so far

01:13:57        Robert Piorkowski:  This is great!! Many faculty have asked for this.

01:14:51        Matthew Kenny:       If the student watches the video later, is there an attendance report available?

01:15:29        E-Stephanie Olstad: what was the icon for next to the student who was there twice

01:15:33        Steve Gavlik: I assume that this applies only to created sessions, not to the course room in general?

01:16:07        JONESRO:    @Steve, that’s correct

01:17:00        E-Stephanie Olstad: Thank you

01:19:30        JONESRO:    @Steve – I just double checked re. Course Room – you can get those reports, but since it’s an ongoing session it could get pretty long.

01:21:01        Matthew Kenny:       Will using the link to publisher material also appear here as time in blackboard?

01:23:00        Joe Scampoli:          Could the student activity report possibly indicate if a student viewed a recording of a class session? (back to Matthew’s question)

01:23:24        Steve Gavlik: So, when a student says “I worked on that for HOURS” we can tell if they’re exaggerating 🙂

01:24:16        JONESRO:    @Matthew – if the link carries them away from BB, it won’t capture that time.

01:25:09        JONESRO:    @Joe, Collaborate is a separate program, so I don’t believe that will be captured by BB.

01:25:57        Matthew Kenny:       If we move the video from collaborate into an assignment section, will it then be counted?

01:26:45        JONESRO:    Yes, but pls remember that BB is not well suited to be a video storage platform.

01:27:26        JONESRO:    You can dl the videos and share them to and via a third-party like YouTube, however.

01:28:45        Steve Gavlik: Following up to Matthew — when we save the Collaborate video, it goes into the Collaborate ‘folder’, correct? A student has to go to Collaborate to find the video?

01:29:01        JONESRO:    Yes, that’s correct

01:29:31        JONESRO:    You make the recording and it automatically saves to the recordings section in Collaorate

01:30:11        Bill DeLuca:  Then we’ll be able to see in course statistics that the student accessed that content area?

01:30:27        Bill DeLuca:  Re: Collaborate

01:32:30        Stephanie Olstad:    The time spent on a discussion can be deceptive if the student types it out in Word or something and then comes back and pastes it into the discussion post.

01:33:12        Bill DeLuca:  That is correct Steve.

01:34:26        Stephanie Olstad:    Can we copy the link to the video and paste it into our module folders so the students don’t always have to go through collaborate to access the videos?

01:34:28        nina.santiago@suny.edu:  https://online.suny.edu/help/

01:35:42        Stephanie Olstad:    Thank you.

01:35:44        Bill DeLuca:  Then we’d be able to track their activity…

01:35:45        JONESRO:    Just grab it fast 🙂 The link directly to the recording will be overwritten about 15 seconds later

01:38:20        Steve Gavlik: Nina — this is what I was imagining, where the link to the Collaborate video of the lecture is within the item we’re analyzing.

01:39:36        Stephanie Olstad:    Steve, that should allow us to at least see if they opened the video.

01:40:13        Steve Gavlik: Right — it shows they accessed the assignment/video (but not necessarily if they watched it…

01:40:57        Matthew Kenny:       which is true even if they are logged onto our presentations

01:41:19        Stephanie Olstad:    Even if we get the log of the live collaborate session, we don’t know that they were actually watching.  They may have opened it up and then went to do laundry.  🙂

01:41:41        nina.santiago@suny.edu:  https://online.suny.edu/help/

01:43:54        Stephanie Olstad:    Can I ask a BB question not related to reports

01:44:14        Stephanie Olstad:    I am trying to copy material from one course to our new setup

01:44:29        Gregg Berninger:     The on-hold music when you call the help desk is beautiful – from SUNY Purchase.

01:44:33        Stephanie Olstad:    When I copy it, is there a way to get it into a specific folder?

01:45:13        Stephanie Olstad:    Okay.  Thanks  sorry  My mic isn’t working.

01:45:26        Steve Gavlik: This was very helpful, thank you everyone!

01:45:33        Stephanie Olstad:    Thank you!!!

01:45:37        Berne Bendel:          Thank you so much!

01:45:49        Bill DeLuca:  Yes, thank you!

01:46:00        JONESRO:    You’re welcome 🙂 Call us anytime!
