SUNY Online Teaching Ambassador 2025: Stony Brook – Doug Silverman

Doug Silverman has been an instructor at Stony Brook University in the School for Professional Development Human Resources Program for the past 18 years. A life-long Long Island resident, Doug is currently the Vice President of Human Resources & Operations for Nikon located in Melville, NY. He has been working for Nikon for the past 27 years overseeing all areas of human resources and labor relations. He also serves as Chair of the Global HR Committee. In addition to working for Nikon, he is a past two-time President for SHRM’s Long Island Chapter.
Doug graduated from Stony Brook University with a Bachelor’s of Science majoring in Political Science. His academic endeavors continued as he earned his Masters of Science in Human Resources and Labor Relations from New York Institute of Technology where he graduated with honors and earned the prestigious John J. Theobald Award.
