Open SUNY Online Teaching Ambassador 2018 – Hudson Valley: Antoinette Howard
Antoinette M. Howard is an Assistant Professor at Hudson Valley Community College (Troy, New York). She has been a faculty member since 2006 and is currently serving her second year as the Department Chair for the Teacher Preparation Department. With six academic programs and 265 students, Antoinette has made it a priority to not only maintain the exemplary online teaching practices already in place, but to support the 23 faculty members who teach both online, hybrid, or web enhanced courses. Most recently, Antoinette secured an Aquos Panel and provided training for her staff in an effort to align with the current practices and trends in education.
I consider myself to be a life-long learner and have attended or facilitated several professional development trainings and workshops dedicated to the topic of online instruction, student success in an online world, as well as on-going Blackboard training. I am well versed in both online and hybrid course instruction and look forward to learning more about the newest technology and best online practices. I am most excited to share all that I have learned with my colleagues in the Teacher Preparation Department as well as facilitate on-going discussions and training opportunities. I would like to thank Ms. Sue Gallaher, Director of Distance Learning at Hudson Valley Community College, for her continued support and nomination.
