SUNY Online Teaching Ambassador 2023: Potsdam – Steve Canning

Steve Canning is an Instructional Designer and Adjunct Professor for the Center for Creative Instruction at SUNY Potsdam.

As an Instructional Designer at SUNY Potsdam I’ve had the pleasure to work with amazing people to foster the growth of our online programs and course offerings. I’ve also served as an adjunct for our fully online Instructional Design M.S. and Education Technology Specialist M.S.Ed programs for over 10 years. In my roles I’ve watched the demand for online learning options grow; it felt natural for me to embrace the possibilities and work to expand what can be done with technology and pedagogy. I’m forever curious about the evolution of how we think, learn, and communicate. In a fast moving competitive world teaching and learning online provides a different, but viable option for those balancing many moving parts. Every day, I look forward to the challenge of blending the “old” with the “new” by creating accessible high quality learning experiences for our fast moving learners.
