Fabio Montella
Suffolk County Community College

Fabio Montella is an Assistant Professor of Library Services and an Adjunct Professor of History at Suffolk County Community College. He has been an active member of the college since 2010 and has been teaching there since 2012. His areas of focus include information literacy as a means to combat misinformation in the digital age and the study of local sports organizations as a microcosm of imagined communities. He currently teaches an online LIB 101 course, Introduction to College Research, which addresses information literacy and its value to our gathering of knowledge.

Fabio sees online learning as a natural progression in the evolution of education that will reach its full potential through continued study and discourse. He is a proponent of the community of inquiry (COI) framework and values its social constructivist model of learning. By adhering to the concepts of this framework, he views himself as both an instructor and director in his online learning environments.

Aside from holding a MLIS from CW Post and a MA in History from Stony Brook University, Fabio is currently pursuing a MA in Learning and Emerging Technology from SUNY Empire State College. Through a richer understanding of online pedagogy and educational technology, Fabio wishes to ensure the facilitation and enhancement of his students’ learning experiences.
