Open SUNY Online Teaching Ambassador 2018 – Herkimer: Jessica Kelly

Jessica Kelly

Jessica Kelly is an Assistant Professor of STEM at Herkimer College (HC) of the State University of New York (SUNY).  She has been teaching at HC both online and in the classroom since 2012.  Her online course design utilizes heutagogy to create a student-led learning environment.  Students guide their individual learning experiences by researching self-chosen topics and moderating discussions on these topics.  The instructional design scaffolds the workload so that students of varying skill levels are able to fully participate in the classroom environment and build their knowledge base.  Frequent peer-to-peer feedback creates a rigorous learning environment where students are continuously challenged.
