Open SUNY Online Teaching Ambassador 2020: Jamestown – Jim Chimenti
Jim Chimenti is a full-time faculty member, holding the rank of professor, and the director of the business programs at Jamestown Community College. Jim has been teaching at JCC since 1981. Some of those years were part-time while he was working as the controller for a manufacturing company in Jamestown. Jim earned a BA degree in mathematics from Grove City College in Grove City, PA and an MBA from Gannon University in Erie, PA. His masters’ thesis was “The Effects of Leadership Style and Strength of Power Motivation on the Job Satisfaction of Accounting Personnel.” Jim has additional graduate studies in creative problem solving, group processes and measurements and assessments at Buffalo State and accounting, finance and MIS at St. Bonaventure. He has also completed the testing and experience requirements for the Certified Management Accounting (CMA) designation. Jim was originally hired at JCC to teach accounting, corporate finance, and business math/quantitative techniques related courses. Later, he started teaching Principles of Management and Management and Organizational Behavior and has been teaching those two courses for over 20 years. Other courses he teaches include Leadership Development and Student Success Seminar. Jim has also been very involved with JCC’s Workforce Readiness division, providing consulting and training services to many organizations in Chautauqua and Cattaraugus counties.
