SUNY OSCQR Certification

The SUNY Online Course Quality Review Rubric (OSCQR) and Process is an openly licensed resource designed to support continuous improvements to the quality and accessibility of online courses, and can be used formatively with new online faculty to help guide, inform, and influence the design of new online courses, or to support the review and refresh of existing online courses. SUNY’s OSCQR certification process prepares online faculty, online instructional designers, and online administrators with the information, tools, and resources necessary to design and tailor an approach to address the quality of online courses systematically and consistently.

Are you interested in OSCQR certification?

If you have years of experience using OSCQR as an online ID, or as an experienced online faculty member, you can earn official SUNY OSCQR certifications. For those new to SUNY, online teaching, or online instructional design, we offer webinars and certification opportunities to help you achieve your goals.

What Are Your Goals?

  • Recognition for years of using OSCQR to continuously improve online course designs as an ID and/or online instructor?
  • Improve your own online course?
  • Become certified in OSCQR to add to your credentials as an online ID?
  • Become an online course peer reviewer?
  • Train others to use OSCQR?
  • Develop a larger-scale online course quality initiative at your campus?

Webinars and Certifications

Any OSCQR webinar can be taken independently, but certification requires two parts: participation in the webinar and completion of the OSCQR review and refresh process, with evidence required.

  1. OSCQR Self-Assessment Webinar and Certification: For anyone teaching online who wants to review and improve their own course.
  2. OSCQR Reviewer Webinar and Certification: For IDs and peer reviewers. Review a course that isn’t your own, provide feedback, and work with the instructor to make improvements.
  3. OSCQR Intro Webinar and Certification: For IDs and peer reviewers. Review five courses, provide feedback, and assist instructors with improvements.
  4.  OSCQR RSI Webinar: For anyone, including online faculty and IDs, to develop awareness of US DoE regulations.
  5. OSCQR Implementation Webinar: For those planning larger-scale initiatives to improve online course quality across programs, departments, or campuses.

All OSCQR webinars and certifications are free for any SUNY online ID/staff or online instructor. Additionally, OSCQR-related webinars are available on demand for SUNY campuses, free of charge, based on staff availability and at mutually convenient times. These can be incorporated into your existing online faculty development processes. Consultations are available to help you design the appropriate OSCQR online course quality path for you, your faculty, or your campus.
