  • Open SUNY COTE Service Level Agreement (SLA) – In this past quarter we disseminated the new Open SUNY SLA with improvements in the COTE specific area – it was made available in November 2016 for the 2017-18 fiscal year. http://bit.ly/SLA1718 (see page 2).
  • Badging System Design – We continue to expand our badging initiative. We have been working to include more Open SUNY or SUNY-wide programs into our ecosystem and constellations of badges, and have found additional opportunities to extend the use of badges into more areas. We are working on better tracking the credentials that have been issued.
  • In this past quarter we continued to work on COTE project plans, metrics, and performance program alignment.
  • Migration is an ongoing commitment and effort – 2012-2017 provided at no cost to SLN campuses migrating from ANGEL.
  • Legacy materials – review, revision, adaptation of SLN legacy materials is an ongoing effort.

  1. Online Competency Development
    • Partnership with OLC announced. https://online.suny.edu/onlineteaching/2016/12/30/sunyolc-partnership/

      Benefits (to the SUNY Online Community) of the OLC partnership and collaboration:

      • We are able to extend membership in OLC at no cost to SUNY campuses.
      • Leverage OLC’s development resources on the development of a more robust OSCQR dashboard.
      • Promote the SUNY Online Community to a national audience. Recognition of the SUNY Online Community in the various partnerships/collaborations.
      • Leadership opportunities for community members to engage in OLC future teams and groups for continuous improvement in our collaborations.
  • Open SUNY COTE Competency Development – Spring 2017 Catalog of Spring offerings.
    • N2OL facilitated online
    • N2OL blended
    • Review your online course with the OSCQR rubric
    • Become an OSCQR Online Course Reviewer
    • Online Instructional Designer Certificate in partnership with OLC launched in January:
      • 60 participants (including 8 SUNY) active in COTE/OLC Online Instructional Designer Course #1– OSCQR
    • BlendKit 2017
    • Universal Design for Learning and Web Accessibility – meeting the needs of all students
    • Monitoring student success with Bb Reports
    • Blackboard Tests: Going Beyond Multiple Choice
    • Using the medium effectively: rubrics as a tool to monitor student interaction
    • Interested in Online Teaching will launch during this next quarter.
  • Fall 2016 Report
    • 19 participants completed Become an OSCQR Online Course Reviewer
    • 5 participants completed Review your online course with the OSCQR rubric.
    • 11 participants completed ID Cert #4 – OSCQR
    • 9 participants completed Universal Design for Learning and Web Accessibility – meeting the needs of all students
    • 7 participants completed N2OL facilitated online.
    • 23 participants completed N2OL blended. (Rockland, FIT, FLCC, & Brockport)
    • 9 participants completed Blackboard Tests: Going Beyond Multiple Choice
  • Spring 2017 (development activities in progress)
    • Development of course on advanced uses of interactive tools.
    • Development of a “crash course” for those new to online teaching and inheriting an already developed course.
    • Interested in online teaching.

    • 1,844 Open SUNY Fellows have joined COTE a 3% increase since last October – a 55% increase for the year.

  • The Open SUNY COTE Networking Community http://cotecommunity.open.suny.edu/
    • 996 members a 4% increase since October – 19% increase for the year.
    • 43 discussion groups.
    • And various discussions.
  • The monthly COTE Community Call features updates from pillars of COTE and pedagogically-focused research presentations and campus showcases.

    • 24 issues have been curated and published to date.

NOTE: Paper views include opening the paper as well as clicking on topics by unique visitor within 24-hour period. Also views are cumulative since paper was first launched.

    • Launched July 6, 2015.
    • 8 blog posts since October.
    • 2 guest posts.
    • Google analytics since August: 1,203 site views, 810 users, 3% new visitors, 37.7% returning visitors (site visits and users are not unique).
  • COTETV – Open SUNY COTE YouTube Channel –
    • 45 Subscribers to date with 5,732 views of the channel.
    • 101 Videos on COTE TV (Open SUNY COTE’s YouTube channel).
    • 16 cc playlists available on various topics.

  1. Course SupportsOSCQR http://open.suny.edu/oscqr

  • 52 SUNY campuses currently use OSCQR, plus dozens of additional schools around the country.
    • Over 691 self-assessment rubrics have been generated, 265 self-assessments since July 2016.
  • On November 17, 2016 we initiated a partnership with OLC. OLC has adopted OSCQR as their course quality scorecard. And is collaborating with us on the development of an improved dashboard and interactive rubric.
  • Working on developing standards and best practices for MOOCs (with Coursera and campus input).
  • Worked with FACT2 task groups on:
    • Standards and best practices mobile-friendly online course design.
    • Standards and best practices on virtual and alternative labs.
