NUTN Event: Authenticating Students Identity
On October 6, NUTN and Open SUNY sponsored a Think. In style event hosted by Monroe Community College. The event featured special agents from the New York State Office of the Inspector General, Investigative Services Unit who detailed distance education fraud as a large and growing issue. They identified ways to help combat this issue and monitor online activity.
The afternoon consisted of presentations highlighting online proctoring and identity verification services from the following vendors:
SmarterProctoring, a product of SmarterServices, member of the Alliance for Learning Integrity & Authentication (ALIA)
B Virtual
Biometric Signature ID
Examity
Intel Security
ProctorU
Software Secure
Verificent Technologies
A recording of the event will be available soon and more information can be found by visiting the vendor websites. Open SUNY is working to procure a system-wide solution and would welcome your input. If you have experience with a particular solution, or would like to express your campus needs, please contact Doug Cohen.
