News: MCC Virtual Campus Center
On June 17, 2015, Monroe Community College officially opened their new Virtual Campus Center, located in the physical Campus Center, Suite 3-150.
MCC has been a leader in online learning since its inception in the 1990s. The leadership of the college has been strong in its support of distance education in all forms, and has empowered the faculty to be leaders in innovation. The virtual campus team looks forward to taking MCC’s online presence to new places by supporting faculty in course development, developing student support models for success and completion, and helping to spearhead new initiatives that will keep MCC in place as the online learning leader it has always been.
Open SUNY staff participated and attended the ceremony. Alexandra M. Pickett, Open SUNY COTE was invited to make some remarks:
It is my honor, President Kress, to be here with you today to witness the opening of the Monroe Community College Virtual Campus Center and to celebrate with you the distinguished history and accomplishments of MCC in online teaching and learning.
MCC has been a leader and pioneer among SUNY campuses in online learning -always willing to volunteer, partner and collaborate – and always innovating and willing share with others in the SUNY online community for the benefit of all.
I want to acknowledge the leadership, vision, and efforts of the staff and faculty at MCC that are the solid foundation on which this new Center is built. You have quite a dream team: Jeff Bartkovich, Terry Keys, Larry Dugan, Mark McBride, Martha Kendall, Mary Hallett Brown, Tom Capuano and Andrea Gilbert and all the MCC IDs (which Terry has made me swear not to take any more) and with very fond memories past staff Peggy VanKirk, and Marie Fetzner – and all your amazing online faculty.
On behalf of your Open SUNY friends and colleagues, I congratulate you all on this occasion.
