She earned her Ph.D. in Geography at the University of Illinois, Champaign-Urbana.  Dr. Frothingham taught courses in physical and environmental geography and her research focused on stream channel restoration and interdisciplinary ecosystem-based watershed management.  In January 2019 she took an administrative position in the dean’s office and Dr. Frothingham is currently serving as the interim dean of the School of Arts and Sciences.  It is in her roles in the dean’s office that Dr. Frothingham has advocated for quality online/hybrid courses by facilitating the implementation of the university-wide policy for faculty to obtain credentials for teaching online/hybrid and participate in the online course design review process, thereby ensuring the quality of Buffalo State’s online/hybrid course offerings.
