Lauren Paisley is a Professor of Business at Genesee Community College (GCC) and has been a full-time faculty member for eighteen years. She started at GCC as an adjunct instructor and The BEST Center trainer in 2002. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology from D’Youville College and a Master’s in Business Administration from SUNY University of Buffalo.  She transitioned into academics after 10 years of working for Waste Management first as an environmental chemist and then in program management.

Ms. Paisley has been a member of academic senate for 18 years, the majority of which was as Co-Chairperson of GCC’s academic standards committee, coordinating the academic appeals process.  She is now an active member of GCC’s Educational Initiatives committee. She has been active in COIL and SUNY’s Global Initiatives committee. For many years she was the advisor of GCC’s International Student’s Organization. She was the chair of GUSTO (Genesee Unites to Support Team Initiatives) for five years.  She is a founding member of the Online Learning Advisory Committee and in the summer of 2014 completed the Applying the QM Rubric Course through Quality Matters. Ms. Paisley is a recipient of the SUNY Chancellor’s Award for Excellence in Scholarship and Creative Activities (2010) and the SUNY Chancellor’s Award for Excellence in Faculty Service (2020).

Ms. Paisley has been teaching online since 2003. Lauren Paisley is a dedicated and dynamic teacher who as a young student, despite her passion for learning, did not set out to become a teacher.  This passion for learning was ignited in her by her mother, who made a lateral career change when Lauren was in middle school.  She impressed upon her young daughter that it is never too late make a change and seize an opportunity.  Lauren’s path in her adult life has seen her work as a medical technologist, an environmental chemist, a program manager for Waste Management and finally to teaching at GCC.-

Online learning excites me. I think about my mother, going back to college as a non-traditional student, and how online learning would have positively impacted her life. I’m dedicated to continuous improvement in reaching students and facilitating an environment that is conducive to learning, one that is inclusive and accessible to all.
