Open SUNY Online Teaching Ambassador 2016 – ESF: Brandon Murphy

Brandon Murphy is the Technology Coordinator at SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry. Brandon has a background in biology and ecology. He has worked in the Outreach Office at SUNY-ESF on a variety of different education projects, including the development of online courses, dual enrollment program (ESF in the High School), Smart Scholars grants, grant writing, environmental science summer camps for K-12 students, and graduate student mentoring programs for K-12 students.

My personal interests in education and online education revolve around two areas: trying to create authentic applications of science for middle and high school students so they understand and can apply the scientific process, and how to create comparable (if not better) applied field and/or lab science experiences by utilizing technology.
