SUNY Online Teaching is a nationally and internationally recognized community dedicated to advancing high-quality, inclusive, and research-informed online teaching and learning across the State University of New York. Serving all 64 SUNY campuses, we support faculty, instructional designers, and academic leaders through large-scale professional development, system-wide initiatives, and collaborative communities of practice.
Our work is grounded in a long-standing commitment to online pedagogy first—centering teaching, learning, and human connection rather than tools or platforms. We design and support faculty development, course quality processes, and instructional design approaches that are informed by theory, evidence, and decades of practice across diverse institutional contexts.
At the heart of SUNY Online Teaching is a vibrant community of practice. We believe that expertise is distributed, learning is iterative, and improvement is collective. Within our community, faculty, instructional designers, and academic partners learn with and from one another—sharing practices, reflecting on experience, and continuously refining how we teach and learn online.
We foster a “share what you know” culture that values openness, collaboration, and mutual support. Our work intentionally invites participation from across SUNY and beyond, extending perspectives, strengthening practice, and contributing to the broader field of online and technology-enhanced education.
Whether you are new to online teaching, an experienced practitioner, or a campus leader supporting online initiatives, we invite you to engage with SUNY Online Teaching—to explore our programs, learn from our shared history, participate in our communities, and contribute what you know.
We look forward to learning with you.
