Strengthening Online Course Quality Across SUNY Through Peer Review

The SUNY Online OSCQR Course Reviewer Network connects experienced online educators and instructional designers across the SUNY system to support high-quality, inclusive, and accessible online course reviews using OSCQR. The SUNY Online Course Reviewers Network is provided as a self-service networking option to extend the ability to support the online course review and refresh process with OSCQR. Vetted online course reviewers volunteer to conduct online course reviews with the OSCQR Rubric, SUNY’s research-based, flexible framework for continuous online course instructional design improvement, to provide OSCQR-informed feedback and suggestions that can be used to strengthen the online instructional design, navigation, engagement, and clarity of an online course.

OSCQR reviewers are essential contributors to SUNY’s system-wide commitment to student success and online teaching excellence. By volunteering to share their expertise, and offering constructive online course review feedback, they support faculty across campuses, and help build a culture of collaboration and continuous online course improvement within SUNY Online.

Program Goals

Strengthen Online Course Quality Across SUNY by providing online faculty with formative, constructive feedback that enhances clarity, accessibility, alignment, engagement, and inclusivity in online course design.
Support Continuous Improvement Using the OSCQR Rubric by promoting ongoing, iterative improvement in online courses by applying a research-based, flexible framework tailored to SUNY’s diverse teaching contexts.
Build a Skilled, Collaborative Network of Reviewers to create a statewide community of faculty, instructional designers, and online teaching leaders who share expertise, build capacity, and elevate online course quality together.
Expand Expertise in Online Course Design & Inclusive Pedagogy to develop reviewer proficiency in quality assurance, accessibility, humanizing practices, UDL, assessment design, multimedia integration, and online engagement strategies.
Encourage Cross-Campus Collaboration & Knowledge Sharing to facilitate system-wide collaboration where campuses learn from one another through shared review experiences, best practices, and diverse disciplinary perspectives.
