Innovative Instruction Technology Grants funding will provide SUNY Jamestown Community College with the capacity to design and create a dedicated space for writing and testing virtual and augmented reality programming. This space enhances the current educational experience of Computer Science students from an abstract experience to a fully immersive hands-on experience. The project will improve learning outcomes, increase student attention, and boost excitement and engagement in the classroom. Most importantly this project will provide students with hands-on experiences and problem-solving skills as they create, test, and adjust VR/AR programming for use in the real world. The VR/AR room will be used primarily for Computer Science students however, it will evolve to incorporate training opportunities for other departments (OTA/Nursing/Biology/Chemistry), workforce development, and degree programs at JCC.
