The Alfred State Micro Credentialing Project employs the National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE) competencies for career readiness to promote all aspects of the SUNY Excels performance framework and multiple strategic priorities at Alfred State SUNY College of Technology. The project has focused on Alfred State student employees for the initial pilot with plans to actively engage with all students in subsequent years. In the summer pilot, student employees will work with supervisors to determine which badges will most effectively enhance their skills and prepare them for career success. Students participate in activities, online coursework, and projects that challenge current views and demonstrate their ability to develop skills to enhance their academic and professional careers. Theses credentials will be applied to the Alfred State co-curricular transcript. This project is a continuation of the micro credentialing program based on the eight NACE competencies for career readiness linked to Access, Completion, Success, Inquiry and Engagement with the foundation built on creating and documenting high impact learning experiences. In addition to the launch and expansion of the original project, this project will focus on creation of a sustainability plan identifying specific offices and positions to continue the work.
