Project Abstract:

Building upon our 2024-25 IITG OER Impact Grant that supported the forthcoming Open Access book Sustainability Learning for Action and Community Engagement and the companion prototype, Earthrise Commons, this project supports further developing the prototype into an intuitive and rewarding community hub. The hub will provide teaching templates, multimedia resources, and community-centered learning activities that activate sustainability education approaches from the book. The project includes the development of the platform using open-source tools, creating podcast videos featuring author perspectives, and hosting a Health, Wellness & Environmental Justice symposium in November 2025. This initiative connects educators across SUNY institutions, K-12 schools, and community organizations while making sustainability education resources open access worldwide via Creative Commons licensing.
