Project Abstract:

This project explores how artificial intelligence (AI) tools can improve the way economics is taught and learned. By integrating tools like ChatGPT and Microsoft Copilot into economics related courses, we will make lessons more interactive, personalized, and relevant to today’s world. Students will use AI to analyze data, debate policy issues, and visual models—building real-world skills in research, critical thinking, and communication. The project will also help students understand the strengths and limitations of AI, including how to identify bias and think ethically about AI’s use. Faculty will develop and share AI-based teaching strategies, helping others across SUNY benefit from the results. We will assess the transformative impact on student learning and engagement and share findings through conferences and publications. Ultimately, this work will help prepare students for careers in an AI-influenced economy while supporting faculty innovation in the classroom.
