Project Abstract:

This project seeks to integrate an AI-driven educational chatbot (eduBot) into business and engineering courses at SUNY Empire State University and SUNY Farmingdale. By leveraging advanced AI technologies, this initiative aims to enhance student learning experiences through a more intuitive, accessible, and personalized approach.
Developed by Dr. Sun and Dr. Kochut funded by ESU 2-24 Special Foundation Funding, the eduBot was successfully piloted in Dr. Kochut's economic undergraduate course with multiple sections. For this project, the eduBot will be adapted, tested, and deployed by Dr. Dalili and Dr. Badrizadeh at Farmingdale State College for Engineering and Business Management courses. Functioning as a conversational AI teaching assistant, the chatbot uses natural language processing (NLP) to guide students through course materials, instructions, and learning resources. One of its key objectives is to reduce students’ cognitive load at the beginning of a course by making the syllabus, schedule, and course organization more easily accessible, thereby streamlining the learning process.
