Project Abstract:

One class in our School of Professional Studies, Marketing, has begun using an interactive computer simulation as an integral part of its coursework. This project will build upon this foundation by expanding the use of such games to a second course, Supervision. In the process we will develop training methodologies to help faculty unfamiliar with the educational use of “serious games” to redesign their courses to incorporate them. In addition, use of the simulation in the first course will be further refined, and a plan to expand the use of similar games in more courses will be created. The immediate goal will be to submit a subsequent, larger scale IITG proposal for this next step, and the long term goal will be to create a model for the incorporation of this engaging form of applied learning in college classes and programs at scale.
