Global learning is essential to building 21st Century workforce skills in areas of intercultural and online teamwork, flexibility to solve new and different problems, self-awareness, and leadership (Farrugia & Sanger, 2017). Led by SUNY Cobleskill, a consortium of SUNY universities and colleges, the SUNY Office of Global Affairs and the SUNY COIL Center, seek support to plan and build an infrastructure to assess and credential competencies that students attain in global learning programs. We seek to create a micro-credential program for the issuance of digital badges to provide a tool for students to accumulate and display evidence of global learning, and, in doing so, project investigators will build on the work of the 2013 TIER III IITG Cross Cultural Toolkit (http://www.crossculturetoolkit.org/). This work intends to allow SUNY campuses to issue credentials to students meeting defined learning criteria in COIL, Education Abroad, and other Global Learning courses and experiences.
