Project Abstract:

Digital health includes artificial intelligence in health care, big data, electronic health records, mobile health applications, digital medications, digital therapeutics, wearable health technology, remote patient monitoring, telehealth, e-prescribing, blockchain technology for transaction documentation, and online health care services. As we move toward a world where "digital health" is just considered "health" as "digital banking" has become "banking", healthcare professionals will need to be well-versed in digital health to provide high-quality care. However, many health education programs have not incorporated digital health. This proposal will provide a modular, stackable, high-quality open education resource for health professions programs covering digital health. The modular design allows educators to incorporate the content into existing curricula or create a focused elective course. Content will include video lectures, suggested plans for curricular integration, and assessments including knowledge/comprehension assessment questions and application/analysis/evaluation level assessments such as active learning exercises and a student project. Student and educator feedback will be analyzed for quality improvement and publication. All content will be available through Open SUNY and Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International license and marketed to all SUNY nursing, medical, and pharmacy programs as well as the nearly 1,200 such programs nationwide.
