Project Abstract:

The project seeks to build upon an IITG-funded pilot study titled “Developing Active Learning Modules: Improving Student Learning using Portable Computer-Based Test Equipment”, in which we implemented a new pedagogical method based on a portable technological resource that simulates expensive laboratory equipment. The results of the study were significantly positive, showing improved grades in the treatment classes. It is our priority to incorporate this pedagogical method on a wider scale in the department, particularly for upper-level courses. We are seeking additional funding to scale up and improve both the theoretical and technical content of the equipment manuals. The two main tasks are integrating the new Diligent toolbox to the device and expanding the content of the laboratory manuals to better equip students for self-directed learning. Ultimately, we aim to enhance students’ ability to critically analyze problems and design innovative solutions based on rigorous engineering and scientific principles.
