Project Abstract:

The Business Management Course Development Phase 2 extends our successful first phase project that created openly licensed management case studies and innovative open-source financial analysis software. The original project developed a SQL database that standardized financial data from 54 companies' SEC filings and created web applications enabling company-to-company and company-to-segment comparisons. Phase 2 significantly enhances this foundation by expanding the software to support user-defined company lists and segments, allowing faculty and students to analyze companies relevant to their specific courses. We continue to leverage AI technology to automate financial data collection from corporate reports, saving valuable research time. Additionally, this phase develops six new management case studies covering topics beyond those in Phase 1. Through primary research including executive interviews and site visits, these case studies expose students to current business practices while reducing educational costs through OER materials. These resources support business education across the SUNY system.
