Osw3go.net: Alternate Reality Simulations as Learning Tools
Awarded grant: $20,000
Principal Investigator:
Ulises Mejias, Oswego
This project will develop a template –the SUNY Oswego ARG Package, or SOAP– that can be used for supporting interdisciplinary ‘alternate reality’ simulations collectively played by students using the Web. These simulations ask participants to analyze a fictional problem based on real-life situations, articulate a variety of possible responses to it, and examine the question of what form action should take in the real world after the simulation. The exercise combines online interaction with face-to-face activities that support the learning process. The template and the simulation guide will be released under an open access license.

Reports and Resources:
- In order to make available only the latest working version of the software, all files and documents are available for download at the project website.
- Included here are the instructions we provided to participate in Osw3go.net 2013: Fracking. They give a good overview of what the software does and how the simulation works.
