Advocating for OER can shape the future of education. As we work together as OER champions, it is important that we share our stories – our successes, our failures, our challenges, and the ways that we overcome those challenges. When we share our stories, we inspire others to take action.

Contributing Your OER Stories
We each have our OER “aha” moments – those moments when we realize the value of OER, and the affordances that OER bring. As you consider a strategy for sharing and promoting OER, remember to include the stories of your OER experiences, and those of your students.
OER stories can be as simple as a paragraph about your efforts to adopt an open textbook, or a video testimonial from students in your class. The idea is to share your personal experience with identifying, finding, adopting, customizing, integrating, creating, licensing, and/or publishing OER.
You can share:
- The details of an OER project/initiative on your campus.
- Your perspectives on the availability of OER in your discipline.
- The impact of OER adoption in your teaching, learning, and/or research.
- Insight into institutional policies and practices related to OER.
- Examples of how you are using Open Pedagogy to engage your students in the creation of open content.
