Template for Blackboard Migration
Monroe Community College
I developed this migration template to accomplish several things.
1. Create a base that would be used for training faculty and migration of course content from ANGEL to Bb.
2. Hopefully provide a consistent look and feel in the migrated courses.
3. Set the stage and promote by in for the use of templates to provide a consistent look and feel in all courses.
4. Build a uniform section in each migrated course, which is basically an MCC modified version of Open SUNY Student Orientation.
The template was created and used in all the course shells for migration where built using it. It was easily added to the file used to create the shells.
Please provide supporting evidence for this effective practice
MCC trained 300+ faculty and migrated over 600 courses. All faculty were introduced to the template and allowed to use as much or as little of it as they chose. Without a mechanism to lock down structure this is currently the best we can do. Many of the faculty are now commenting on the need for consistency in courses. I plan to use this discussion between peers to spring board more buy in for the use of templates.
