Support and Resources
The resources below connect SOSSI v2.0 implementers to the broader SUNY professional community. These resources extend the support through troubleshooting a technical issue, looking for models of effective practice, or seeking professional development.
Websites and Information Repositories
SUNY Online Student Success Site
online.suny.edu/studentsuccess
The central hub for online student success resources across the SUNY system. Includes research-based best practices, professional development opportunities, community of practice information, and tools for supporting online students at every stage of their journey. The SOSSI administrator forum lives here: a space where site administrators and IT professionals can collaborate, share solutions, and troubleshoot implementation issues with peers across the system.
Student Support Spotlight
online.suny.edu/studentsuccess/student-support-spotlight
A curated showcase of exemplary online student support programs and initiatives from campuses across SUNY. Useful for finding models of effective practice and for sharing what your campus builds around SOSSI as your implementation matures.
Communities of Practice and Associations
SUNY DASS (Digital Academic Support Solutions) Community of Practice
susan.warner@suny.edu
The DASS Community of Practice focuses on early alert systems and coordinated campus response. For SOSSI v2.0 implementers, this is the right community for questions about integrating SOSSI data into existing early alert workflows, coordinating response across departments, and scaling outreach to meet student need. Meets monthly virtually and maintains an online community.
SUNY Online Student Success Collaborative
A community of practice focused on developing and sharing scalable best practices for online student support. Where DASS focuses on coordinating response, the Collaborative focuses on building it: the resources, interventions, and support structures that get deployed. Meets monthly virtually and maintains an online community.
DOODLE Directors of Online and Distance Learning Environments
A paid-membership nonprofit organization supporting directors and leaders of online and distance learning programs across SUNY. Broader in scope than the SUNY-specific communities above, DOODLE addresses the full range of challenges facing online learning leadership, including student support, program development, and institutional strategy. Worth noting for administrators overseeing SOSSI implementation as part of a larger online learning portfolio.
Training and Professional Development
SUNY CPD Online Student Supports Certificate Program
A three-course certificate program offered through the SUNY Center for Professional Development for staff, faculty, and campus leadership working with online students. Covers proactive support strategies, campus workflow design, and skills for fostering online student engagement and success. Relevant for anyone on your SOSSI implementation team who wants to deepen their professional foundation in online student support.
SUNY Online Summit
An annual gathering of the SUNY online learning community held each February, available virtually at no cost and in person for a fee. Presentations, panels, and networking focused on online teaching and learning across the system. A natural venue for sharing what your campus is learning from SOSSI implementation.
SUNY Conference on Instruction and Technology (CIT)
An annual conference held each May focused on instruction and technology across SUNY. Brings together faculty, staff, and administrators engaged in teaching, learning, and student support in technology-rich environments. Relevant for SOSSI implementers interested in connecting with colleagues working at the intersection of technology and student success.
