Model For Clinically Rich Residency Program for Teaching Assistants

Over the past several years, there has been a call for increasing the clinical preparation of teachers across the country. The Teaching Assistant Residency Program at SUNY Empire State College designed to accommodate teacher candidates who are volunteering their time in the Residency placement for the full school year and those employed as Teaching Assistants in partner school districts. Program culminates with Adolescent Level (7-12th) grade certification in English Language Arts, Social Studies, Math, Spanish, French, Physics, Biology, Chemistry, and Earth Science. Undergraduate Clinically Rich Teacher Preparation Program

A model for an alternative teacher preparation program. A pilot program for teacher candidates implemented at SUNY College at Cortland that focused on science and mathematics, blended theory with extensive, increase the role of school partners in teacher preparation and better prepare candidates for the demands of the teaching profession.
