Creative Expression

Mindy Kronenberg

Mindy Kronenberg, Long Island Center, Hauppauge Unit, SUNY Empire State College writes:

“Nature can be connected to creative expression and the arts in a variety of innovative ways. The creative process can bridge the natural environment and human imagination to develop an appreciation for art as personal expression, conduit for social consciousness, and opportunity for a new esthetic based upon ecological awareness.”

“The readings, discussions, and investigations in studies pertaining to nature and the Arts serve to sharpen areas of observation and critical assessment, and prepare the student in writing carefully organized responses through literary and non-literary art forms that may include painting, photography, graphic arts, architecture, and thematically connected art installations, performance, film, and emergent art forms in new media (digital/the internet). Students gain an appreciation of how art can bring a new awareness to the ecology.”
