Facilitators will share an introduction to feminist pedagogy, including practical examples from their teaching. Participants will actively workshop an aspect of their course (syllabus, assessment) around feminist pedagogy tenets of humanizing online learning, creating cultures of care, and fostering embodiment in online learning.Session\u00a0Learning Outcomes:<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>At the end of this\u00a0session, participants will be able to:<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\r\n<li>Identify key tenets of feminist pedagogy for online learning and teaching.<\/li>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<li>Explain how specific feminist pedagogy tenets are relevant to their\u00a0online\u00a0courses.<\/li>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<li>Apply feminist pedagogy tenets to their elements of their course.<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Feminist pedagogy, like other forms of liberatory pedagogies, seeks to promote equity and inclusion in learning environments by centering\u00a0on learners,\u00a0recognizing their contributions,\u00a0and prioritizing their learning goals and needs. Liberatory pedagogies offer a way to engage online\u00a0learners\u00a0in ways that honor and uplift their lived experiences and knowledges to positively impact their learning experiences and outcomes. Feminist pedagogy, tenets, such as recognizing\u00a0learners\u00a0as agentic co-educators and building equity, mutual respect, and support in the learning process, are needed in today&#8217;s increasingly complex learning environments.\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>This\u00a0session\u00a0will review the tenets of feminist pedagogy, focusing on those that are of particular use in the online learning space,\u00a0and will provide the opportunity for participants to consider a revision to their online\u00a0course incorporating selected feminist pedagogy tenets, independently and with colleagues.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>The\u00a0session will review:<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\" start=\"1\">\r\n<li>Humanizing online learning and teaching.<\/li>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<li>Creating cultures of care in the online learning space.<\/li>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<li>Disembodiment\u00a0in online learning and teaching.\u00a0<\/li>\r\n<\/ol>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Each of\u00a0these\u00a0three\u00a0aspects of the session\u00a0will provide participants with knowledge about the feminist pedagogy tenet, examples of how to incorporate the tenet into\u00a0an online\u00a0course shared by the facilitators,\u00a0and the opportunity to consider specific\u00a0changes to an aspect of participants&#8217; own\u00a0online\u00a0courses.\u00a0The facilitators will use polls, open discussion, and question and answer to engage both the virtual and in-person session attendees as part of this process.\u00a0Learning about a new concept and engaging with\u00a0colleagues to consider how to apply something new in one\u2019s own context will provide session participants with opportunity\u00a0to make a substantive change\u00a0in a supportive environment, with resources and information to continue the work beyond the end of the session and event.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p><strong>Session Resources:<\/strong><br \/>The Feminist Pedagogy for Teaching Online guide is an open access resource that was developed by educators at Tulane, and in subsequent collaboration with colleagues from across the US.
