Work on the rubric continues to expand it to include both edX and Udacity-specific standards and best practices.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>We have coordinated a list of experienced online course reviewer volunteers, and published a list for campuses looking for help with conducting online course reviews:\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/online.suny.edu\/onlineteaching\/online-competency-development\/cote-course-reviewer-network\/\">https:\/\/online.suny.edu\/onlineteaching\/online-competency-development\/cote-course-reviewer-network\/<br \/>\n<\/a><strong><br \/>\n<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ol start=\"4\">\n<li>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>COTE Research<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><em>To view your individual campus report, or the aggregated results across the system login: <a href=\"http:\/\/www.sunyresearch.net\/php\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">http:\/\/www.sunyresearch.net\/php\/ <\/a><br \/>\nFor information on how to access or participate in Open SUNY COTE online faculty and student studies, <\/em><a href=\"mailto:contactcote@suny.edu\"><em>contactcote@suny.edu<\/em><\/a><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Longitudinal project: <\/strong>Fall 2016 student survey report was disseminated in February.\n<ul>\n<li>Spring 2017 student data collection is underway.<\/li>\n<li>A new manuscript is being prepared for publication on online learner self-regulation (learning presence).<\/li>\n<li>In the fall we should have a revised\/updated student survey in place.<\/li>\n<li>We are\u00a0working on the student comments from the last 10 years of data collection, doing open coding and categorization.\u00a0 Looking at why students are taking online courses and why they would not take a course in the future.<\/li>\n<li>COTE staff have contributed to the IITG proposal review process.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Current Focused Research projects underway:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>On faculty attitudes on online teaching.<\/li>\n<li>Analysis of student comments from the last 10 years of data collection \u2013 we are doing open coding and categorization focused on why students said they are taking online courses and why they would not take a course in the future.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<ul>\n<li>Overall, in the period from 2010-2016, <strong>30,000 students filled out the surveys<\/strong> (23,000 complete entries).<\/li>\n<li>Overall, on average <strong>26,000 students expressed that they were satisfied<\/strong> with their online experience (average of 2.06 on a 5-point scale) and stated that they agreed that they learned a lot from the online course (average of 2.02 on a 5-point scale). Among them, <strong>40% were strongly satisfied, 30% satisfied<\/strong> with the online experience, and <strong>42% strongly<\/strong> believed they learned a lot, and <strong>28%<\/strong> believed they learned a lot.<\/li>\n<li>In terms of satisfaction about online classes and students&#8217; perception regarding their learning, only 7% and 6% said they were not satisfied, and did not learn a lot. 10% and 12% were neutral, and overall <strong>70% were completely satisfied with the online classes.<\/strong> 13% chose not to answer the question.
