{"id":2585,"date":"2016-01-29T15:06:24","date_gmt":"2016-01-29T21:06:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/online.suny.edu\/onlineteaching\/?p=2585"},"modified":"2020-11-30T11:08:10","modified_gmt":"2020-11-30T17:08:10","slug":"cote-report-january-2016","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/online.suny.edu\/onlineteaching\/2016\/01\/29\/cote-report-january-2016\/","title":{"rendered":"COTE Report \u2013 January 2016"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>This report provides an update on Open SUNY COTE activities through January 2016.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<h4><strong>GENERAL Initiatives<\/strong><\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Migration<\/strong> is an ongoing commitment and effort \u2013 2012-2017 provided at no cost to SLN campuses migrating from ANGEL.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Legacy materials \u2013 <\/strong>review, revision, adaptation of SLN legacy materials is an ongoing effort.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Digital DNA Refresh<\/strong> will assist us in reviewing and refining priorities and designing more flexible ways for campuses to pay for COTE supports and services.\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Based on the recommendations of the Open SUNY Metrics work group,<\/strong> we are working on an impact survey to get a sense of success and information to inform continuous improvements.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Working Badging Design Group<\/strong> \u2013 we continue to make progress in the design of a comprehensive Badging System that provides a framework for our Online Competency Development program to recognize participation, achievement, engagement, and online competency development.\n<ul>\n<li>Using the Credly: <a href=\"https:\/\/credly.com\/u\/opensunycote\">https:\/\/credly.com\/u\/opensunycote<\/a><\/li>\n<li>We have published 20 badges in the professional development and community engagement categories.<\/li>\n<li>1,400 badges have been issued \u2013 8% have been shared in Facebook, 92% shared in LinkedIn.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4><strong>Open SUNY COTE Pillars: <\/strong><\/h4>\n<h4><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/online.suny.edu\/onlineteaching\/online-competency-development\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Online Competency Development<\/a><\/strong><\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/online.suny.edu\/onlineteaching\/online-competency-development\/spring-2016\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Spring 2016 COTE Professional Development<\/a><\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>Partnership with UCF\/<a href=\"https:\/\/blended.online.ucf.edu\/blendkit-course\/\"><strong>BlendKit2016<\/strong><\/a> MOOC \u2013 coordinating local campus cohorts and COTE cohort, support materials and engagement toolkit.\n<ul>\n<li>7 local cohorts (Monroe, Farmingdale, North Country, Upstate, Corning, Empire State, Brockport), 16 interested in COTE cohort.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Collaboration on <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cvent.com\/events\/quality-by-design-qbd-course\/event-summary-286b5b25639446b4b519f02da23a098d.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">QbD and IITG project.<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Fall 2015 Report<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>We held an OSCQR webinar in October with 21 people.<\/li>\n<li>We held an OSCQR training at Stony Brook with 25 people.<\/li>\n<li>We trained N2OL at FIT and FLCC, totaling 12 people.<\/li>\n<li>16 people are registered for the self-paced N2OL.<\/li>\n<li>8 people registered for the OER online course.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Priorities for Summer 2016 (possible new development)<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>Fundamentals in Online Learning for those interested in online teaching and learning. &#8211; self paced<\/li>\n<li>Crash course in online teaching for adjuncts.<\/li>\n<li>Effective Online Teaching and Instructional Design with the Community of Inquiry model (Possible collaboration with TOEP and others on this.)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Possible partnership with OLC to endorse and adopt OSCQR.<\/li>\n<li>Possible partnership with OLC on the ID certificate program.<\/li>\n<li>Piloting a CRM tool to assist us in tracking contacts and training\/badging progress.<\/li>\n<li>COTE PD Associates (people certified to train on our behalf): <a href=\"https:\/\/online.suny.edu\/onlineteaching\/meet-the-team\/meet-the-cote-pd-associates\/\">https:\/\/online.suny.edu\/onlineteaching\/meet-the-team\/meet-the-cote-pd-associates\/ <\/a><\/li>\n<li>Currently conducting a needs assessment survey to project demand for selected offerings.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/online.suny.edu\/onlineteaching\/community\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Community of Practice<\/a><\/strong><\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/opensunycotesummit2016.edublogs.org\/about\/program\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>2nd Annual Open SUNY COTE Summit<\/strong><\/a> February 24-26, 2016 in NY, NY (at the SUNY Global Center). <a href=\"https:\/\/opensunycotesummit2016.edublogs.org\/speakers\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Speakers<\/a> &#8211; <a href=\"https:\/\/opensunycotesummit2016.edublogs.org\/keynote\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Keynote<\/a> &#8211; <a href=\"https:\/\/opensunycotesummit2016.edublogs.org\/about\/program\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Program<\/a><\/li>\n<li><strong>Open SUNY Online Teaching Ambasadors<\/strong> &#8211; <a href=\"https:\/\/online.suny.edu\/onlineteaching\/engage\/ambassadorprogram\/ambassadors\/\">https:\/\/online.suny.edu\/onlineteaching\/engage\/ambassadorprogram\/ambassadors\/<\/a>\n<ul>\n<li>Inaugural group &#8211; 44 nominees from 18 campuses to date.<\/li>\n<li>Tied to the research project on faculty attitudes.
