{"id":1301,"date":"2015-04-15T14:56:05","date_gmt":"2015-04-15T20:56:05","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/online.suny.edu\/onlineteaching\/?p=1301"},"modified":"2020-11-30T11:11:17","modified_gmt":"2020-11-30T17:11:17","slug":"cote-report","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/online.suny.edu\/onlineteaching\/2015\/04\/15\/cote-report\/","title":{"rendered":"COTE Report &#8211; April 2015"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>This report provides an update on Open SUNY COTE activities through April 2015.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p><strong>GENERAL<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Initiatives<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Migration<\/strong> is an ongoing commitment and effort. 2012-2017 provided at no cost to SLN campuses migrating from ANGEL.\n<ul>\n<li>20 campuses have completed their migration, or will within the next year.<\/li>\n<li>80% of the total courses that need to migrate to Bb from the 29 campuses have already done so.<\/li>\n<li>Only 9 campuses remain (exclusively on ANGEL).\u00a0(Most of these campuses yet to migrate are small, i.e., Clinton, Adirondack, Schenectady, Fulton-Montgomery).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Open SUNY COTE staff is assisting with some instructional design needs at the <strong>CPD for certificate programs. <\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Open SUNY Metrics work groups<\/strong> have been convened to determine what and how to collect data to measure usage, impact and effectiveness of our supports, resources, services and initiatives across Open SUNY. Faculty Supports: COTE primarily. Campus Volunteers: Tony Guzman \u2013 UB, Kathleen Stone \u2013 ESC, Rich McElrath \u2013 Sullivan, Larry Dugan \u2013 MCC, Christine Kroll \u2013 UB, Michelle Rogers-Estable \u2013 Delhi, Molly Mott \u2013 Canton, Kathleen Gradel \u2013 Fredonia, Phillip Ortiz \u2013 ESC, SUNY Provost Fellow, Peter Shea \u2013 UAlbany, Ken O\u2019Brian \u2013 Brockport, Chair of POSAC, Anita Bleffert-Schmidt \u2013 Ulster. And COTE staff.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Working Badging Design Group<\/strong> \u2013 we are in the process of designing a comprehensive Badging System in conjunction with our Online Competency Development program that will recognize participation, achievement, engagement, and the attainment of skills. We are using the Credly platform. Campus members: Chris Price \u2013 Brockport\/CPD, Kelsey O\u2019Brien \u2013 UA, Anne Reed \u2013 UP, Jeremiah Grobowski \u2013 UB, Jim Lynch \u2013 MVCC. Some input from Tera Doty-Blace \u2013 Broome and Linda Ryder &#8211; HVCC. Facilitated course will go live on May 4.<\/li>\n<li>OER Open Self-paced CUNY course. instructor-led online course \u2013 targeting and include libraries as facilitators for COTE experienced and advanced roles. April 27<\/li>\n<li>The Online Instructional Designer \u00adCertificate Program will now include Open SUNY course reviews and training in the OSCQR process. March 31<sup>st<\/sup>.<\/li>\n<li>Blended boot camp: April 30, 2015<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Since September we have trained 65+ new online faculty in Bb and 25 in Angel.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Fundamentals PD for those in the interested role: working on an \u201cAre you ready inventory?\u201d for faculty interested in teaching online.<\/li>\n<li>Working on collecting online courses for observation for those in the New 2 Online (N2OL) role.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Community of Practice<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>First Annual Open SUNY COTE Summit was held in February 25-27, 2015 in Syracuse, NY. And various discussions.\n<ul>\n<li>Please join: <a href=\"http:\/\/cotecommunity.open.suny.edu\/?xgi=0Sd4kS7gYEpIvI\">http:\/\/cotecommunity.open.suny.edu\/?xgi=0Sd4kS7gYEpIvI<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>First issue of the monthly Online Teaching Gazette was published in March <a href=\"http:\/\/open.suny.edu\/gazette\">http:\/\/open.suny.edu\/gazette<\/a><\/li>\n<li>Mentoring pilot is in development.<\/li>\n<li>COTEhub (blog) is in development.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong> Course Supports<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>The Open SUNY COTE Quality review (OSCQR) process has been designed for implementation with Wave 2 campuses.<\/li>\n<li>The OSCQR rubric has been designed: This interactive tool provides a workflow framework for the course review team and is designed to facilitate the online course review process and produce an action plan for online course refresh, includes a dashboard, annotations, activations, aggregation of scores and action plans. 15 of the 19 campuses with Wave 1 and 2 programs have decided to adopt the OSCQR rubric (in part or in whole) for their use.
