Kump, Ph.D.,<\/strong> is Assistant Professor of Engineering at SUNY Maritime College.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>I am Professor Kump, originally from Chicago, and I teach electrical and computer engineering for SUNY Maritime.\u00a0 In the beginning of the Spring 2016 semester, I had been given the opportunity to teach our engineering department\u2019s inaugural online course, an introduction to computer programming for engineering students of all disciplines.\u00a0 If there was ever a course that should be online, it is this one.\u00a0 The course, which had over 120 students enrolled, was a success, with several students expressing their surprise to me that they could learn so much from an online course.<\/p>\n<p>Computing is a hobby of mine.\u00a0 I have written nuclear material detection algorithms for the U.S. government, crime prediction software for the Chicago Police Department,\u00a0 and my own personal stock market prediction software.\u00a0 The latter is a work in progress, and I hope to someday have the software automatically trading for me and emailing me diagnostics.\u00a0 I enjoy typing in LaTex and building websites.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Paul M.
