Whitman, Ph.D.<\/strong> is a Professor in the <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Social and Behavioral Science department at <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Alfred State College. <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Dr. Whitman has been a life-long trainer and more recently a professor in Criminal Justice in higher education.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Dr. Whitman earned his Ph.D. in Public Safety Leadership (2013) from Capella University as a Graduate with Distinction. He earned his <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">M.P.S. in Community Service Administration from Alfred University, a B.A.S. in Social Science from Florida Atlantic University, and an associates degree in Police Science from Monroe Community College. Additionally, he is a graduate of the Federal Bureau of Investigation National Academy 165th and Law Enforcement Executive Development 43rd Class.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Dr. Whitman is an experienced professional with over 38 years in law enforcement, of which he spent 28 years as a Police Chief in three different venues. He is credited with a strong track record of achievement in improving communities and reducing crime.\u00a0 He has keynoted or has been the lead presenter in leadership training, specifically, \u201cSurviving with Honor\u201d.\u00a0 <\/span><\/p>\n<p><em><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&#8220;I have never entered a new situation with answers, but rather questions. I believe we begin at excellence and move toward perfection collectively.&#8221; He asserts \u201cEducation is a process to provide a blend of experience, skill, reality and training coupled with creativity, innovation and resourcefulness by student and educator alike. Paramount to this goal is the reintroduction of critical thinking to our students.&#8221;<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Mark L.
