The group identified four main groups of methods for allowing students to do this: 1) Specifications Grading, 2) Contract Grading, 3) Gamification, and 4) Adaptive Learning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"block-5ab0f17d-cc20-4a7a-87d2-9d11e0b3cb39\">Subgroup members collect faculty insight, examples, and rubrics to assist in the assessment of student learning using different modalities.\u00a0 This will help students learn in various modalities to better develop their subject area knowledge and give them flexibility in their courses.\u00a0 Having this flexibility will give students the skillsets needed to succeed in their future academic goals.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-ub-content-toggle wp-block-ub-content-toggle-block\" id=\"ub-content-toggle-block-5cbe6231-e8f9-4166-a92b-08c063cc97d8\" data-mobilecollapse=\"false\" data-desktopcollapse=\"false\" data-preventcollapse=\"false\" data-showonlyone=\"false\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-ub-content-toggle-accordion\" style=\"border-color: #f1f1f1; \" id=\"ub-content-toggle-panel-block-\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"wp-block-ub-content-toggle-accordion-title-wrap\" style=\"background-color: #f1f1f1;\" aria-controls=\"ub-content-toggle-panel-0-5cbe6231-e8f9-4166-a92b-08c063cc97d8\" tabindex=\"0\">\n\t\t\t<p class=\"wp-block-ub-content-toggle-accordion-title ub-content-toggle-title-5cbe6231-e8f9-4166-a92b-08c063cc97d8\" style=\"color: #000000; \"><strong>Specifications Grading<\/strong><\/p>\n\t\t\t<div class=\"wp-block-ub-content-toggle-accordion-toggle-wrap right\" style=\"color: #000000;\"><span class=\"wp-block-ub-content-toggle-accordion-state-indicator wp-block-ub-chevron-down open\"><\/span><\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t<div role=\"region\" aria-expanded=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-ub-content-toggle-accordion-content-wrap\" id=\"ub-content-toggle-panel-0-5cbe6231-e8f9-4166-a92b-08c063cc97d8\">\n\n<p id=\"block-54886bff-e1f4-4e7f-9878-fb5bef548684\">Adding value by earning grades through use of rubrics that directly links course grades to achievement of learning goals.  This encourages students to learn from their mistakes by grouping learning goals that reflect student learning outcomes through scaffolding of learning while putting the oneness of learning on the student.<\/p>\n\n<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-ub-content-toggle-accordion\" style=\"border-color: #f1f1f1; \" id=\"ub-content-toggle-panel-block-\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"wp-block-ub-content-toggle-accordion-title-wrap\" style=\"background-color: #f1f1f1;\" aria-controls=\"ub-content-toggle-panel-1-5cbe6231-e8f9-4166-a92b-08c063cc97d8\" tabindex=\"0\">\n\t\t\t<p class=\"wp-block-ub-content-toggle-accordion-title ub-content-toggle-title-5cbe6231-e8f9-4166-a92b-08c063cc97d8\" style=\"color: #000000; \"><strong>Contract Grading<\/strong><\/p>\n\t\t\t<div class=\"wp-block-ub-content-toggle-accordion-toggle-wrap right\" style=\"color: #000000;\"><span class=\"wp-block-ub-content-toggle-accordion-state-indicator wp-block-ub-chevron-down open\"><\/span><\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t<div role=\"region\" aria-expanded=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-ub-content-toggle-accordion-content-wrap\" id=\"ub-content-toggle-panel-1-5cbe6231-e8f9-4166-a92b-08c063cc97d8\">\n\n<p id=\"block-54886bff-e1f4-4e7f-9878-fb5bef548684\">\u201cDecouple[s] evaluation from grades\u201d (Elbow and Danielewicz, 10), and instead, gives students grades based on their work or labors. Students\u2019 labors might include completing homework assignments, attending and participating in class, turning in assignments, drafts and revisions on time, and turning in a specific page-requirement for each assignment.<\/p>\n\n<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-ub-content-toggle-accordion\" style=\"border-color: #f1f1f1; \" id=\"ub-content-toggle-panel-block-\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"wp-block-ub-content-toggle-accordion-title-wrap\" style=\"background-color: #f1f1f1;\" aria-controls=\"ub-content-toggle-panel-2-5cbe6231-e8f9-4166-a92b-08c063cc97d8\" tabindex=\"0\">\n\t\t\t<p class=\"wp-block-ub-content-toggle-accordion-title ub-content-toggle-title-5cbe6231-e8f9-4166-a92b-08c063cc97d8\" style=\"color: #000000; \"><strong>Gamification<\/strong><\/p>\n\t\t\t<div class=\"wp-block-ub-content-toggle-accordion-toggle-wrap right\" style=\"color: #000000;\"><span class=\"wp-block-ub-content-toggle-accordion-state-indicator wp-block-ub-chevron-down open\"><\/span><\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t<div role=\"region\" aria-expanded=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-ub-content-toggle-accordion-content-wrap\" id=\"ub-content-toggle-panel-2-5cbe6231-e8f9-4166-a92b-08c063cc97d8\">\n\n<p id=\"block-54886bff-e1f4-4e7f-9878-fb5bef548684\">Describes the process of applying game-related principles \u2014 particularly those relating to user experience and engagement \u2014 to non-game contexts such as education.\nThis includes measurement of &#8211;\u00a0Spatial Ability, Verbal Ability, Executive Functions, Prior knowledge, Learning Strategies, Goal Orientation, Self-Regulation, Situation-Specific\nEngagement, Emotion, Cognitive Load, Situational Interest), Learning Behaviors, Learning Behaviors: (mouse clicks, exploration strategies), or Learning Outcomes: Skills &amp; Competencies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"block-54886bff-e1f4-4e7f-9878-fb5bef548684\">Essential diagnostic activities include:<br>Evidence-Centered Design (Mislevy et al)<br>Student\/Competency Model (what should be assessed?)<br>Evidence Model (what behaviors reveal these constructs?)Task Model (what tasks should elicit these behaviors?)<br>\u201cProximity&#8221; or &#8220;Just in Time&#8221;Model When should tasks be assessed?
